Sara-Claire and I took Ava to Jackson for a pre-op appointment for her biannual back surgery. Khiron had to work or he would have gone with his 'Princess' as he calls her. He is a great daddy. He talks to her and tells her stories. He wakes up at night to lay with her if she is awake or coughing. He sings to her and plays Guitar Hero for her. I am so proud to call him my son!
Now I am going to brag some more, so if you don't want to hear 'I think my child is wonderful' stories, well just skip over this part.
I am usually the mother, the one in charge, the one answering the questions, the one taking care of. But on this day I watched my daughter with such amazement. Not that I thought she couldn't, (she has been mothering since she was 2, that's a whole 'nother blog) it was just how lovingly she cared for Ava. How magicial it is to witness your child give love....as she changed her, or brushed her hair away from her face, or held her to quieten her distress. I just stopped and thanked God for allowing me to be a part of those moments. These young adults have such maturity in handling a situation that many of us would not think we could.
Ava is a joy, a gift from God, and a miracle.
To be in her presence betters your day. Have we cried for her? Oh yes ma'am (or sir)! But God has a plan for her and wonderful hugs for those who love and care for her so well.
